So let me explain something. If any of you know me, I am about as girly as they come and Laily has taken that on as well. I mean, her first word was "shoes." She loves dress up, putting on mommy's makeup, and pretending to ballet dance. And she hates being dirty, climbing things, and when daddy tries to wrestle and be rough with her. She is as girly as they come. Even when it comes to shopping, she LOVES to shop with me.
As mommy and daddy were looking for shoes for Laily this weekend, she was in her own little world pulling every pink, red, and brightly colored shoe she could find. All the while saying, "OOOHHH, this one is pretty mommy! Look at this one! I think this one fits...lets get it!" But, sensible mommy knows we need something she can run and play in verses cute [so hard to say].
I guess my first mistake was going with the whole family. My second mistake was going to one of Micah's favorite sporting stores in town.
We both picked out a few shoes for her to try on and most were a bust...either too big, too small, or don't allow her to run well [she isn't the most coordinated girl]. Finally, Micah spotted these, at first I hesitated, but eventually gave in to let her try them on. Maybe I was in a fog or maybe I was just tired of shopping with a 2 yr. old running everywhere, a baby who was on the verge of breaking down, and a husband who hates to take longer than 10min. to shop for something. Whatever it was, I caved. They fit, they were pink, and she could run in them...let's go!
So here I am, sitting at home looking across the room at them and wondering "how did these shoes make it home? Did I really pay for these?" Don't get me wrong, I don't think they are terrible, they are just not what I would have come home with if it was just me shopping. I have concluded that they are basically a boy's shoe [come on, they are camo!] at a nice sporting store where mostly men shop...they are made for daddy's who want their little girls to be boys, or at least more sporty girls [Micah's dream is for Laily to become a professional golfer so he can be her caddy]. Micah LOVES them. I think they will do the job [as long as I get some cute ones for other outfits of course]. Laily is just pumped to have new shoes...she is happy, so that is good enough for me...I guess.
